‘ในทางกลับกัน…: Animation in the other way round’

[ Workshop ] 'ในทางกลับกัน…: Animation in the other way round'
2 July 2022 @Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC)

The workshop's core idea was to introduce participants to a new perspective towards 'Experimental Animation' by reconnecting with body visual and audio sensory. Observing various 'the shifting stage' in order to redefined their own definition of 'Animation'.

What is ‘animation’?
What is ‘life’?

31 Participants were carefully selected by our team from more than 50 applications.

The participants’ various backgrounds and interests, wide gap in the age range, and different level of animation skill (from none to professional) created a rich discussion and conversation throughout the workshop. By combining those who are eager to exchange thoughts and those who might not familiar with discussion, the collective energy helped everyone to open up much easier.
“Animation making as a way to make sense of the world”
The workshop focused on 'collective approaches using animation as a medium' which later became Klowerº main approach of exploration. We also incorporated 'Butoh’ approach of 'Slowness' and 'Improvisation' as a key to redefine ‘animation’ and how one views ‘life’. Every exercise follows by reflection and discussion.

[ Drawing to connect and communicate visually ]

[ Collective Charcoal Animation ]
Collective Charcoal Animation by Klowerº is an activity that invite people to everyone to deconstruct their understanding of the Animation definition by working in the same space/time, on the same drawing space. This fun approach intrigue everyone to find their ways to communicate and connect with oneself intuitively, with other and with the group, using both the visual they create and the body language. With the materials at hand and the tangible quality of the charcoal animation technique, this collective analog animation is a prove of how accessibility animation could be when ripping off all the technical aspect and just enjoy the fun in exploration.
